Zoltan Hair · Mayfair · Men's treatments

Hair that does what you tell it. Nobody will know why.

Sides that stick out. A crown that will not lie down. Frizz that arrived with the grey. Product that gives up by eleven. That is what I fix — two treatments, flat prices, and a finish that reads as your hair on a good day rather than as something you had done.

Stop fighting it

Hair that goes where the cut puts it, first time, without a hairdryer and three products.

Two minutes, not fifteen

Wash, rough dry with a towel, out of the door. No technique to learn and nothing new to buy.

Nobody can tell

People tend to say you look well rather than ask what you have had done. That is the entire brief.

It works with your cut

Treated to sit inside the shape your barber gave you, not to hang. It usually makes the same cut look better.

Most men have never been offered this. There is a reason.

London's booking sites list these treatments as “Ladies –” by default, and most salons market them to women only — so the average man has simply never been told they exist for him. The chemistry has never cared. Barbers write about men's perms and texture constantly; very few places in central London actually do the work. I have been perming since 1991 and straightening since 1999, on men the whole way through — men's names, men's prices, men's finish.

Two treatments. Both finished so nobody can name them.

One takes the fight out of curl and bulk. The other puts shape into hair that has none. Top only, or all over — and the exact price is on the page, not revealed in the chair.

Straightment for Men

Less bulk, less frizz · 1 – 2 hrs

For curl, kink and sides that stick out. Bulk comes down 60–80% and frizz mostly goes, so the hair falls where the cut puts it — not poker-straight, not shiny, just manageable. Deliberately stopped short of polished, because obviously-treated hair is the failure mode on men.

Flat prices Top only, short £139.95 All over, short £169.95 All over, 4–8 in £219.95 All over, 8–14 in £279.95

Worth knowingLasts around 2–3 months — not because it is weak, but because your haircuts keep removing the treated hair. No hard line, no grow-out stage. Longer than 14 inches is quoted at consultation.

Wavement Cold for Men — classic perm

Texture and movement · 1.5 – 2.5 hrs

For flat, fine hair that will not hold a shape. Texture put in where you want it — usually the top, against short sides — so the cut finally has something to be and product has something to grip. Subtle by default; tight and deliberate if you ask for it, which younger men increasingly do.

Flat prices Top only, short £189.95 All over, short £229.95 All over, 4–8 in £279.95

Worth knowingLasts around 2–3 months, softening as your cuts take it out. Bleached hair takes a curl and drops it — that is a consultation conversation, not a booking.

The questions men do not ask out loud

So here they are, answered without you having to.

Will it be obvious?

No — and if it were, I would have done it badly. The result should look like your hair on its best day. I deliberately do slightly less rather than slightly more: you can always come back to take it further, and nobody who has ever been overdone forgets it.

Will it look like a woman's treatment?

The chemistry is the same. The way I work it is not. On women I finish polished; on men I stop short of that and leave it natural — hair that sits inside your cut rather than hair that looks finished.

How long will I be sitting there?

Men's appointments are the shortest work I do — top only on short hair is the quickest thing on my books. You get the exact time when you book, not a vague estimate.

What happens when it grows out?

Nothing dramatic. There is no hard line and no shelf — and since you are cutting every few weeks anyway, most of the treated hair leaves with the cut before grow-out can become a thing.

I'm thinning. Is this a bad idea?

Thinning hair is usually fine hair, and fine hair is more fragile — so this is exactly the case where I want to see it before I promise anything. Sometimes a light Wavement gives useful body. Sometimes the right answer is no chemistry at all. I would rather lose the appointment than take the risk.

What is the salon actually like?

A comfortable room in the middle of Mayfair, strictly by appointment — so you are expected, not queuing, and there is no room full of anybody. It is a busy chair: some days I run behind, and there may be another client in. What you get is my full attention on your hair. Men book here all the time.

Two minutes on WhatsApp usually settles it

You do not choose the chemical — that part is my job. You just tell me what irritates you about it.

Two photographs — top and side — and a sentence about what annoys you. You get a direction and a likely price, not a verdict: anyone who promises a result from a photograph is guessing, me included. The real answer happens with the hair in my hands.

Mini consultation — online

£9.95

A booked video call if the hair has history — previous chemistry, colour, or damage from somewhere else. It is £9.95 and that is all it is: not a deposit, and it does not come off the treatment. Every treatment includes a full consultation on the day at no charge.

Where

Maddox Street, Mayfair W1 — a minute from Oxford Circus. By appointment only, so nobody is queuing and nobody is watching.

Haircut on the day

£89.95 with a treatment, against £165 on its own — and it is better cut afterwards, on the new texture. Tell your barber, or let me do it.

Included

Blow-dry and finish are included with men's treatments. There is nothing to buy afterwards — your usual product works, and you will probably use less of it.

Grey, coarse or wiry hair

Hair genuinely changes when the grey comes in — often wirier and less willing. It usually takes these treatments well, and it is worth a look rather than a guess.

Flat prices, published.

The price on this page is the price — by band, not by surprise. Book directly, or send two photos on WhatsApp first and I will point you at the right one.
