Cookies

Last updated: 1 September 2026

A cookie is a small file a website puts on your device. Some are needed to make the site work. The rest are optional, and I don't set those until you say yes.

When you first visit you get a banner. Accept all, Decline all, or Manage cookies to pick. Nothing optional runs until you choose. You can change your mind any time from the Cookie Preferences link at the bottom of any page.

Needed to run the site

These run whatever you choose.

CookieWhat it does
ss_cvr, ss_cvtSquarespace Analytics — how many people visit and which pages they read
_ga, _ga_H40NJX7VP8Google Analytics — the same thing, in more detail

I look at these to see which guides people actually read. I don't use them to advertise to you and I don't sell the data.

Translation

This site is translated by Weglot, which stores your language choice so you don't have to pick it twice.

Booking

The booking page loads Acuity Scheduling from Squarespace. It sets its own cookies to run the booking. Their terms cover those.

Turning it off yourself

Your browser can block or delete cookies for any site. Some parts of this site may then behave oddly. Google also offers an opt-out for Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
