Keratin, then and now
Then: the Brazilian
It started in Brazil, where smoothing hair with a keratin treatment and a hot iron was called progressiva, or escova progressiva. By the late 2000s it had reached London as the Brazilian blow-dry, the Brazilian blowout, the keratin treatment: many names, one idea. Take the frizz out, keep the movement, no line to grow out.
At Compton we did it from 2009, and Compton London brought in the next ones: Onix, then Eternity Liss.
The problems
The early versions meant three days without washing (aftercare, then and now), and many used formaldehyde (a history).
Now
The names kept multiplying: keratin smoothing, nanoplastia, hair botox. In my chair they’re all one treatment, matched to your hair: Straightment Demi.
