Compton Hair, Soho and Covent Garden: from 2002

Long, glossy red hair from behind: a Compton blow-dry shoot
From the Compton blow-dry shoot.

Before Mayfair there was Compton. The salons I founded and owned: Soho, then Covent Garden, then the Barbican. Thousands of heads of hair, a team I trained myself, and the straightening work that made the name. This is what’s left of it: the old pages, the press, the prices. It’s closed now. I’m not.

The Yuko firsts

1999: Zoltan became the first person in Europe to offer the Yuko System outside Yuko’s own salon. 2002: Compton Hair became the first salon in Europe with the rights to perform it. Zoltan trained in the Yuko Method taught by Yuko Yamashita herself, and was the first to perform the Yuko System on Afro-Caribbean hair.

Compton London

The Brazilians we brought in

Compton London, my distribution company, brought Onix and then Eternity Liss to the UK, and later the Korean ATS range, and supplied them to salons. None of it is sold any more.
