Vegetable Colouring at Compton Hair

At Compton Hair we specialise in organic vegetable hair colour that offers a quick, super-safe way to colour your hair temporarily. Our expertise means we are one of the few salons approved by L‘Oreal to use their Symbio line of ammonia and oxidant-free hair colour.

There are many benefits to vegetable hair colour and Symbio has the best of them. It is a conditioning treatment with the benefit of new fresh colour rather than a process that leaves hair lack-lustre or with visible re-growth. The colour is applied with a botanically rich conditioning masque and since there is no ammonia or oxidants present, the colour coats the hair shaft rather than penetrating it. This vegetable coating protects and conditions the hair giving it a natural sheen and in superb condition. Symbio colour is also a good option for summertime colour and swimmers because it may help to protect from environmental damages such as the sun, salt water, and chlorine.

The colours usually lasts for up to 10 shampoos which makes it a perfect colour option for people who do not want to commit to a colour, want to try temporary colour before going permanent, or just want to play up their own natural highlights for a special occasion. Semi-Permanent Colour at Compton Hair

Sometimes you do not want a drastic change of hair colour, just a "pick me up" for the hair to draw out the already fabulous natural colour and highlights and a longer-lasting colour than a vegetable conditioning rinse. At Compton Hair we specialise in semi-permanent colour for just these occasions and it is also great at masking the first signs of grey and white hair.

For longer lasting hair colour the Compton Hair Colour Salon uses four different types of semi-permanent colours from L'Oreal: Richesse de Diacolour, Gelee, Richesse, and High Richesse. They provide nourishing and conditioning tone-on-tone colour and high shine while being very gentle on hair and without leaving roots. They make the most of your natural colour.

The semi-permanent hair colouring process takes between ten to twenty five minutes so is quick enough to be done during a lunch break. The prices for semi-permanent colour start at £30. At Compton Hair we offer a full range of Permanent Hair Colour, whether you are looking for subtle or bold highlights, warm reds, cool blondes, bright brunettes in sections or full-heads of colour, we have an exceptionally wide-range of shades to suit you.

We use the best professional brands - L'Oreal permanent colour systems, Majirel HT and LUO Colour. L’Oreal Marjirel HT offers a long-lasting and intense wide range of colours and shades that really condition the hair. High & Low Lights at Compton Hair

At Compton Hair we specialize in adding highlights and lowlights to your hair to complement your natural hair colour, to add definition to the hair and to add a gentle shot of colour. They can be blended into the hair, striking and making a statement or entirely au naturel – whatever suits you and your hair and lifestyle best.

What are highlights and lowlights? Highlights and lowlights are spot hair color processes. They can be used separately or together depending on the look you wish to achieve and can be used with a solid hair color – either your own or a pre-dyed hair colour. Technically speaking highlights lighten sections of the hair by two shades or more and lowlights darken the hair by two shades or more.

Each head of highlights and low-lights will be prescription-blended to suit you, there are no hard and fast rules, although if you are looking for a natural effect its important to bear in mind the following factors:

For blondes with very fair skins, golden and copper lowlights are best, as they keep the colour from bleaching colour from the face.

Brunettes and darker hair should not lift the hair more than three shades lighter than their natural colour if they are looking for a natural effect. For low-lights these hair shades should blend red with coppers and golds to add interest in a natural way.

A combination of highlights and low-lights in hair will make re-growth less noticable.

You want to be darker than you are now a semi-permanent colour is usually able to effect this type of colour change and you can see a range of shades available at your consultation that will best suit you and your current hair shade. You can also discuss full colour and lowlights and decide what would suit you and your hair best.

You want to be lighter than you are now, a permanent colour is generally going to be the best approach, again your hairdresser at Compton Hair can advise as to which hair colour you should have to best suit your skin tone and hair condition and as to whether a full head of colour is the way forward or highlights of colour placed through the hair.

You are looking for a quick, temporary colour that will not have regrowth and will enhance your hair’s condition. Our organic vegetable hair colour is going to be the answer and we have a good range of shades for you to consider at your consultation.

You spend a lot of time swimming or in the sun then this also needs to be taken into consideration when deciding upon your hair colour. Our Symbio temporary colour can help to protect the hair shaft so will be a good choice for you.

Hair Colour Correction at Compton Hair

Hair Colour correction is best left to the specialists at Compton Hair who will ensure you leave the salon with the shade you actually want, as opposed to the colour you now have. Whether the problem has been caused by a home hair-colourant accident, colour fade, your hair becoming over-highlighted by the sun, green tones in the hair following over-exposure to chlorine, a build-up of darker colours over the hair shaft, or a colour you just don’t like, we can solve the problem.

You could need total colour removal or your hair may need lightening or darkening a few shades to remove the depth or the intensity of the colour or to even out and correct the colour.

We use different methods depending on the problem from colour reducers which break down the colour molecules, oxidation products which bleach the colour from the hair, products which counteract colour fade, and hair reconditioning products which help to restore the hair.
