How it worked

How it worked

As written in 2009 · from the Onix press release (Chalk PR)

Hair is washed with Onix Natural Care Shampoo which allows the cuticles to open

Onix Natural Care Treatment is then applied to sections of the hair from root to end

The hair is blow dried to stimulate the Açai and Guarana. The cuticles are sealed with ceramic irons

Leave the hair for 30 minutes then apply the Onix Natural Care Mask, leave on for one hour

Rinse and Blow dry the hair. […]

The salon guide: “How to Onix”, 2010

Compton London’s own working sheet for salons using Onix (Zoltan’s file, April 2010), set out as it was written. Spelling tidied; the phone line left out.

Long35 ml45 ml
Extra long45 ml55 ml

A second application: never more than 25 ml. Always measure with a measuring cup. Too much product burns off under the dryer as fumes, smoke and smell, so remove the excess with a barbering comb before blow-drying. Use gloves. The mask is not necessary, but recommended.

The method, step by step

  1. Start with the hair in its natural state.
  2. Shampoo twice with the Onix shampoo to bring the hair to the right pH; rinse thoroughly and towel-dry.
  3. Section temple to temple across the crown, and forehead to nape through the occipital bone: four quarters, as for a root tint.
  4. Take half-inch sections from the nape and apply the product an inch from the root, working up past the occipital bone to the temple, then from the ear up to the top parting.
  5. Blot off the excess with a dry towel.
  6. Leave to develop for the time for that hair type.
  7. Blast-dry away from the face until completely dry.
  8. Section again the same way and iron each section as the hair-type guide says.
  9. Wait up to 45 minutes for the keratin and the cuticle to settle: don’t tie the hair or let it get wet.
  10. Rinse thoroughly for 5 minutes and towel-dry.
  11. Massage in the step 3 mask for 5 minutes, wrap in a towel for 15 more, then rinse and towel-dry.
  12. Blast-dry smooth, airflow downwards, and iron to finish.
  13. Done: the hair can be washed and styled any time from now.

Three ways to use it

  • Onix Original Therapy: the steps above.
  • Onix Keratin Therapy: step 2 and step 3 mixed 1:1, applied the same way.
  • Onix Sleek Therapy: up to step 9, the keratin left to settle for 10 minutes, rinsed with water, then on from step 3 to step 13.
