Searching for a Brazilian? · for men
The Brazilian blow dry. On a bloke's haircut.
Same family as "keratin", just the older name. HELLO! once called me the undisputed king of them. On men it is done lighter, and finished so it looks like your hair.
- Short hairthe quickest work I do
- No lineyour cuts take it out
- NaturalBrazilian does not have to mean shiny
What it is
A smoothingDOWN treatment set in with heat. It calms the frizz and takes the bulk out, so the hair sits where the cut puts it. Despite the name, it is not a blow dry you pay for every week; it lasts.
In my chair it is Straightment Demi, or Straightment Permanent if there is real curl to deal with. I choose; you pay the men's price.
On short hair
- It is quicker than you think. Top only on short hair is the fastest thing on my books.
- There is no grow-out line. Your next few haircuts take the treated hair away.
- Done light, it keeps some movement. You still look like you, minus the fight.
Brazilian vs keratin
For you, no difference that matters. Both are names for the same family of smoothingDOWN, and both come down to what is in the bottle, how it is matched to your hair, and how carefully the heat is used. The names sell treatments. The hair decides.
Who it suits
- Thick, frizzy or wavy hair worn short or mid-length.
- Men who blow-dry every morning and are sick of it.
- Not bleached, very fragile or already over-processed hair: that's a lighter strength, a not yet, or a no.

Questions men ask
Is a Brazilian the same as keratin?
Same family, older name. With me it's Straightment Demi or Permanent.
Does it work on short hair?
Yes. It's quicker on short hair, and there's no grow-out line.
Will it look shiny?
Not the way I do it on men. Brazilian doesn't have to mean shiny.
Straight talk before you book
- It'll smell on the day. Heat plus product. It clears.
- A grey blend from the barber can warm. I say so first.
- Your barber can still cut and fade it.
Don't cook your hair.
