DOWN · for men · after a transplant
Had a transplant? Your hair isn't the same texture any more. Let me sort it.
The grafts took, the hairline is back, and the new hair has a mind of its own: curlier, wirier or frizzier than the hair around it. That is a texture problem, and texture is the whole of my work.

It is not in your head
Transplanted hair can grow back with a different texture. In one published study, 38 of 980 patients (3.9%) grew noticeably curly hair after their transplant, starting around four months after surgery. Many more men notice something smaller: hair at the front that is coarser, wavier or points a different way from the hair around it.
What I do
- Straightment Demi or Straightment Permanent to calm curly, kinky or wiry transplanted hair so it sits with the rest. I choose which, and you pay the men's price.
- Just the front, if that is all that needs it: a hairline job, not the whole head.
- A cut that blends the two textures while the treatment settles.
When it is safe
Your surgeon decides, not me. The scalp has to be fully healed before any chemistry goes near it. Clinics commonly say about four weeks before chemical treatments, and some say longer; your surgeon's word wins. Bring his go-ahead with you.
I read the grafts, the scars and the scalp before anything is mixed, and I keep the work off anything that is not ready.
Why come to a texture specialist, not your barber
Your barber can cut around it. He cannot change what the hair does. I have been straighteningDOWN since 1999 and perming since 1991; making two textures behave like one is exactly the job.
Not sure? Two ways to find out
- Online consultation, £9.95: a questionnaire and six photos so I can prepare, then I call you back within 72 hours, usually the same day. It covers my own treatments only.
- In person, £74.95: for hair with history. Colour, bleach, a transplant, somebody else's treatment.
- Neither comes off a treatment. Every treatment already includes a proper look at your hair in the chair on the day.
